Northern Arizona University might be pound for pound the best applied linguistics program in the country; that is if you have heard of it. I am sure it is on few people’s short list of schools, but because of strong faculty support at NAU, students get published often. The school has a number of concentrations taking novel approaches to the study of applied linguistics. NAU specialties include: corpus linguistics, computer-assisted language learning (CALL), language planning and policy, language testing and program evaluation, second language acquisition, literacy, register analysis, language variation, grammar and discourse, and second language teaching and learning.
