The Applied Linguistics Program at Penn State University is considered one of the best. Of course I am biased because many of the professors at my institution – UMass Boston –  attended Penn State. The faculty was responsive and seemed excited about my research interests. Anytime an applied linguistics department is named after the specialization, you have a program who cares about the study of applied linguistics.
