3.6.2.15 University of Arizona – SLAT
Focus / Concentrations: Applied, Second Language Acquisition
Department / College: Second Language Acquisition and Teaching
The Second Language Acquisition PhD program at the University of Arizona may top all programs when it comes to an “interdisciplinary” approach. The programs choose one of four specialties and can take classes from one of the 14 participating departments. The specializations offered are: 1) second language analysis, 2) second language process and learning, 3) second language use, and 4) second language Pedagogical Theory and Program Administration.
From the start of the application process, I found the entire staff and professors at the UofA to be extremely helpful about their program. When you’re looking into programs, try to find people that you can work with and who you feel will offer you the support to get through your course of study.
As a disclaimer, I will be attending the University of Arizona’s SLAT program in the Fall 2010.
