3.6.1.30 University of Colorado at Boulder
Focus / Concentrations: Theoretical
Department / College: Department of Linguistics
Going from cold to snowy, you may wonder why I would consider one program but not the other? I was born in Colorado and grew up there for a good portion of my life. It is better to deal with the devil you know than the devil you don’t. It is not too far-fetched to call CU, UC – Berkeley East. At least four of the professors at CU come from Berkeley. Still, CU is unique in that it “confronts theory with firsthand observations. Analysis of video- and audio-taped interactions, acoustic measurements of speech, computational and statistical data analysis, psycholinguistic experimentation and fieldwork abroad and in local communities all contribute to this enterprise.” What really distinguished this program is the response I got from the professors. They were very positive and very enthusiastic.
