6.2.4 Where will I stay?

leave a comment »

Most schools shack you up with a grad student, but sometimes you’ll get lucky and end up with a professor. One student notes that this isn’t always lucky; professors can live far away from campus and don’t stay up late, so you may end up having to go through a lot of extra hassle leaving events early. Essentially, staying with a professor gives you the opportunity to make a really good impression, or a really bad impression.

If you have friends or family in the area, and you’d like to stay with them instead, this is also an option, but check with the program first to make sure they don’t have their hearts set on you staying with a graduate student.
