The Department introduces students to the theoretical, empirical and practical dimensions of applied linguistics. The school offers courses in basic theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, and the interdisciplinary areas of psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics as well as courses in discourse analysis and ethnographic research methods, ESL/EFL methodologies, and cross cultural studies. The program offers two concentrations: English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for English language learners (ELLs), and Foreign Language Pedagogy (EFL).

The programs offers Masters degrees on-campus and on-line.
